Who is Daniel Pany?
Hi, and thank you for inquiring about me. I feel that it is in your best interest to hear what my professors, collegues, and family have to say about me, rather than just me babbling on about myself. If you would like to hear from myself what I am capable of, please head over to the interests and experience pages.

"Daniel is dedicated, meticulous with his work, and always willing to help others."
- Dr. Diane Barrett, BU Professor
"Over the course of last two years I have had the pleasure of having Daniel Pany as a student in digital forensics classes at Bloomsburg University and as a team member for the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. Daniel is a dual major student in sequential digital forensics classes and I will be instructing him until the time he graduates. Daniel is dedicated, meticulous with his work, and always willing to help others. Due to his excellent class attendance, the amount of effort he puts into his work, and his quest to learn, he has done very well in my classes, club activities, and cyber competitions. I’m sure these qualities carry into his professional life.

Daniel has shown a special interest and enthusiasm for practical application in all of his work. During the time I have instructed him, I was impressed with the quality of the work he presented and his inquisitive nature. His assignments were well organized, creative, and demonstrate real application of forensic principles. When his work did not meet the specified criteria, he was persistent enough to not only figure out why it did not meet the criteria, but also redo the work in order to meet specifications. He is not hesitant to ask questions to make sure he has the correct understanding of the concepts being taught. He is humble enough to ask for advice to guide his goals and studies outside of class. I am extremely proud of his progress through his education, club activity, and professional development."

"He has always gone above and beyond to learn the most that he can about computer security and forensics."
- Dr. Philip Polstra, BU Professor
"I have had the privilege of having Mr. Pany as a student in my digital forensics class. He has always gone above and beyond to learn the most that he can about computer security and forensics. I also had the fortune of spending considerable time with Mr. Pany when I traveled to Michigan to attend a conference with a group of Bloomsburg University students.

He is a member of the university's Collegiate Cyber Defense team and very active in our Digital Forensics club as well. I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to the security industry."

"Daniel’s creative ability to try new methodologies while not giving up will make him an excellent investigator in whatever problem his company or clients might face."
- David Pany, Mandiant Consultant, Brother
"My name is David Pany. I am Daniel’s older brother and I have watched him grow up and mature from my video game partner to a hardworking and motivated college student in pursuit of a degree in the cyber security field of digital forensics. I currently work for a cyber-breach investigation company and have personally investigated attacks on healthcare, retail, and many other types of companies. Daniel’s personality and work ethic towards the cyber security field cannot be sufficiently described in several themes, but some themes that do properly define him are determined, creative, and caring.

There are not many people I know that can focus strictly on a project of interest for an extended period of time. Daniel’s determination has engaged him in completing projects in many fields while solving complex and technical problems along the way. I have known Daniel to stay up late into the night just to finish a musical ensemble he thought about at dinner the evening before. It’s not uncommon for Daniel to take on a classroom project and finish it quickly and to perfection just because he is passionate about the subject. Outside of the classroom, Daniel also pursues topics he is passionate about through the medium of personal research to further his personal and career oriented intellect. Daniel’s determination to solve problems will help in his future in cyber security to protect the nation’s most critical industries such as healthcare.

Along with his hard work, Daniel also has the ability to creatively solve problems. His creativity likely stems from his longtime passion of music. Daniel can play the saxophone, piano, and likely other instruments he has fiddled with that I’m not aware of. I have seen him approach technical problems in ways I would not have thought to try and succeed. This ability to step back and come up with a fresh view is crucial to participate in and lead cyber investigations. New sources of evidence are used in each investigation and no two attack groups are exactly alike. Daniel’s creative ability to try new methodologies while not giving up will make him an excellent investigator in whatever problem his company or clients might face.

Since I am Daniel’s brother, I have seen Daniel care strongly not only about his friends and family, but I have also seen his intentions to make the world a better place through the work he will perform after graduation from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. I feel that the coupling of this genuine thoughtfulness with determination and creative ability position Daniel as a talented young academic ready to take on whatever the world may challenge him with. I am confident Daniel’s enthusiasm towards this field will enable him to learn as he proceeds on his future personal and professional journeys."
